Activities and Amenities
Miller State Park is located on the 2,290-foot summit and flank of Pack Monadnock in Peterborough and is the oldest state park in New Hampshire. A winding 1.3-mile paved road leading to the scenic summit is open for visitors to drive. Three main hiking trails ascend Pack Monadnock to the summit. The best known is the Wapack Trail, which is a 21-mile footpath that extends from Mt. Watatic in Ashburnham, Massachusetts to North Pack Monadnock in Greenfield. It is believed Native Americans named the area’s mountains, and that “pack” means little. On clear days views reach to Mount Washington, the skyscrapers of Boston, and the Vermont hills.

3 months agoThis is a nice spot to visit for hikers, nature lovers and leaf peepers. Good hiking trails to the summit but you can also drive to the summit on a well maintained auto Road. For $4 a person you can drive your car up to the top, which is not so worth ( since the views are obstructed by large trees) This auto road is narrow and steep with minimal shoulder on either side and caution is advised as some hikers walk the roadway instead of the trails and paths. Summit has a small tower that allows views as far as Boston, or the White Mountains on a clear day. Parking at the top was very limited but we found a stop. Nice place to spend a couple of hours on a good weather day.

a year agoAnother fabulous New Hampshire state park especially during fall colors. Very friendly park staff and trails are easy to trek. Auto road takes you to the summit, so very convenient if part of the group can not hike and rather meet up at the top.

4 months agoBeen going here for fifty years. In that time it has hardly changed, which is fine by me. You have your choice of a foot path or a road to get to the top. The road is narrow and twisty; wouldn't recommend large cars or trucks. There's picnic tables, bathrooms and access to the open summit, allowing magnificent views northward. Energetic hikers can continue on to North Pack. Make sure to dress well; even on warmer days the winds can be cool.

4 months agoThe views from the summit are phenomenal. We found this to be the perfect stop on our trip to Maine. The road going up is very narrow and steep - be aware and drive it slow (especially since its a two way traffic road but its the size of a one lane road).

3 months agoBeautiful hike during fall foliage season, you can also drive to the top. The trail is marked with yellow markers so it was kind of confusing finding the right path. Also, the first few minutes are very steep with rocks.
