NOTICE: On October 14th and 15th road and trail repair work will be taking place off Old Chesterfield Road, south of the Horseshoe Road junction. Gravel trucks may be encountered on Horseshoe Road, and Old Chesterfield Road on both Thursday and Friday.
Pisgah State Park includes over 13,300 acres of rough forested terrain, encompassing a complete watershed north of the Ashuelot River. Within the Cheshire County towns of Winchester, Chesterfield and Hinsdale, the park protects seven ponds (popular for fishing), four highland ridges and numerous wetlands. The area’s 21 square miles make it the largest property in the New Hampshire state park system.
Six trailheads around the park disperse use, reducing guest impact and encouraging the discovery of Pisgah’s natural and cultural features. Year-round trailheads for hiking, mountain biking, ATV and snowmobile use provide options for short, moderate, and long treks into the backcountry. Park staff monitor the impact of motorized and bicycle use on the park seasonally. Please be advised that trails may be closed for mud season or as other conditions warrant. For information about trail status or about equestrian use, call the Bureau of Trails at 603-271-3254.
The park is unstaffed but is open to the public year-round at no charge. The gate remains closed through mud season. Should an emergency arise during your visit, please call 911 for assistance.
The off-season poses unique risks inherent when participating in outdoor recreational activities. Please be aware that many State Park areas and trails are not staffed during the off-season, and day-use fees are not collected. Recreationists should possess the necessary knowledge, skill, and equipment to ensure their own safety. Users assume all risk while recreating in State Park lands.

a year agoBeautiful park with lots of trails and lakes. Has something for everyone but you gotta find the right location. Some are really secluded and others are super popular.

2 years agoI really love walks at Pisgah. The trails are marked and there are maps online. Diversity in the scenery with woods, water, meadows and some remnants of homesteads. There is hunting, so wear bright clothing or vests. I see lots of people walking dogs on leashes, too.

5 years agoI hiked the Kilburn Loop Trail, total distance in and out is approximately 7 miles. I would consider this trail moderately difficult. It has been a while for me so it made it slightly more difficult. Be prepared with insect repellent and water. Its a pet friendly park and although the parking lit was full, I didnt see anyone while on the trail.
