Description
This little area, Part of the Final Frontier land purchase, long sat unnoticed or under appreciated until the past couple of seasons. Our good friends over at “Team Tough Industries” saw it for what it was, a perfect beginner to intermediate play ground only minutes from the road. This place is destined for popularity. With routes from 5.5 to 5.11 there is something for pretty much everyone in your squad. There are actually two small walls that form the Corral with a small stream running between them. The small Wall is shorter and steeper for the most part and houses the hardest climbs. The Slab Wall is less steep and has a number of clean, featured slabs with the occasional overlap. Climbs on the Slab Wall range from 5.5 to 5.10a.
The corral actually saw it’s first (and still hardest) sport route over a decade ago from an apparently unidentified climber, it was left to collect moss until it was unearthed by this latest development effort.
Thanks Team Tough and company for bringing us another little corner of paradise.
Getting There
You approach the Corral from the Final Frontier parking area which was added in November 2017. The lot is located about a mile past the other parking lots on the right hand side. Can’t miss it. If the lot is full, absolutely do not park along the road! In that case you will need to go somewhere else.
To get to the climbing look for a trail on the east end of the lot (if you are facing away from the road it’s on your right 😉 that parallels the road. A couple minutes casual walk will get you there.
Do not take the trail that breaks off to the left and goes up a steep hill. That trail goes up to the north West Territories.
